Valentine’s Day Morning Meeting Ideas

Valentine’s Day morning meeting can be such a wonderful time to incorporate themes of love. Before you think UGH, I do not want to reinforce the “dating” happening in my classroom, that is not what I mean!

I love to keep morning meeting fresh and engaging because my students are more interested and receive more value from their participation. One of my favorite ways to do this is through holiday themes!!!

Valentine’s Day Morning Meeting Themes

  • friendship
  • kindness
  • compassion
  • loyalty
  • empathy

All of these are part of love, right? However, each of these are important social emotional skills for our students to be developing. Read more about how I intentionally integrate SEL skills into morning meeting here.

It can seem overwhelming to think about changing your morning meetings each month to be about the holidays or seasons. (If you’re interested in that done for you, click here)! I also know that you probably have some routine greetings and games that your students know the expectations and procedures well it is so easy for you to use that consistently.

Hey, there is NOTHING wrong with that. Use those old reliables over and over! Let me challenge you though, can you change one word or idea in that popular choice to make it have to be related to Valentine’s Day?

You do not need to reinvent the wheel, just change it slightly.

February Topics

We have such a special unique opportunity to infuse social emotional learning into our students’ days. If you are wanting to start morning meeting but unsure of what to do, email me! I am more than happy to chat and share some things I have learned along the way.

The most important thing is to make it enjoyable, for ALL of you. When it is a time that you all look forward to, the rest will flow naturally and the benefits will appear in ten fold!
